Items to Watch for the Upcoming Board of Governors’ Meeting

Strategic Planning Committee:  The Board will consider approval of the Public Notice of Intent to Amend Board of Governors Regulation 3.0075, Security of Data and Related Information Technology Resources. It will consider approval of Florida State University’s 2023-2027 Strategic Plan. The Board will consider approval of the University of Central Florida’s Path to Preeminence, Five-Year Benchmarking Plan.

Audit and Compliance Committee:  The Board will hear an overview of the audit results of Performance-Based Funding and the Preeminence and Emerging Preeminence data Integrity process.

Innovation and Online Committee:  The Board will receive an update on the results of a 2022 student survey on how the cost of textbooks and instructional materials affects their educational experience. The results are based on nearly 14,000 SUS and FCS student respondents. The Board will also hear an overview of the growth of the FAMU online education program offerings.

Academic and Research Excellence Committee:  The Board will hear an update on the 2023 Research and Innovation Dashboard. 

Budget and Finance Committee: The Board will consider approval of the Student Success Plans for Florida Gulf Coast University, Florida Polytechnic University, and New College of Florida.

Task Force on Academic and Workforce Alignment:  The Task Force will hear presentations on the System’s definitions for experiential learning and best practices for university-employer partnerships.

Nomination and Governance Committee:  The Board will consider the appointment of university trustees. The Board will also discuss Regulation 1.001, Trustee Powers and Duties, and Regulation 1.002, Presidential Search and Selection.

Full Board:  The Board will hear a presentation from Mr. Jamie Grant, the Chief Information Officer for the Florida Digital Service, on how universities can better assess risk and protect university data against cyber threats. The Board will hear updates on the presidential searches at Florida Atlantic University, Florida Gulf Coast University, and New College of Florida. Additionally, the Board will consider approval of the adoption of Board of Governors Regulation 10.003, Post-Tenure Faculty Review.

The Board of Governors’ meeting will be held at Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University in Tallahassee, with committee meetings scheduled to begin March 28, 2023, at 1:30 p.m, and at 9 a.m. on March 29, 2023.  The full Board meeting is scheduled to begin on March 29, 2023, at 10:45 a.m. Meeting times are subject to change.
