Items to Watch for the Upcoming Board of Governors’ Meeting

Academic and Student Affairs Committee:  The Board will consider approval of the Reverse Transfer Statewide Articulation Agreement.  The Board will also consider approval of the Master of Science in Applied Data Science, at New College of Florida.

Academic and Research Excellence Committee: The Board will hear a presentation of the results of the 2021 Research and Innovation Dashboard.

Task Force on Academic and Workforce Alignment:  The Board will hear from business leaders from Florida’s aerospace industry regarding future talent needs and how the State University System can address those needs.

Strategic Planning Committee:  The Board will hear an overview of Pillars of Excellence spending through December 31, 2020.  The Board will also hear an overview of the Civil Discourse Initiative. Ms. Liz Joyner, CEO, The Village Square, Inc., and Mr. William Mattox, Director, Marshall Center for Educational Options at the James Madison Institute, will introduce key issues relating to civil discourse, free expression, and civic engagement in a university environment.

Innovation and Online Committee: The Board will hear an update on the work of the Steering Committee in the development of a plan for a post-COVID world in the State University System.

Audit and Compliance Committee:  The Board will hear a summary of the Data Integrity Audit and Certification process in key data used for Performance-based Funding and Preeminence and Emerging Preeminence funding considerations.

Full Board:  The Board will hear an update on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.  The Board will also hear an update on the presidential searches for Florida State University and New College of Florida.

The Board of Governors’ meeting will be held at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University in Tallahassee, with committee meetings scheduled to begin March 23, 2021 at 8:30 a.m.  The full Board meeting is scheduled to begin on March 23, 2021 at 3:15 p.m. Meeting times are subject to change.
