SUS Universities Receive $645 Million for Performance-Based Funding

Tallahassee, FL (July 11, 2025) – The Florida Board of Governors allocated $645 million to the 12 universities within the SUS for Performance-Based Funding (PBF). The PBF model allocates funding to institutions based on their performance on 10 different metrics within the 2025 Accountability Plans, including graduation rates, retention rates, post-graduation outcomes and research expenditures. Florida International University, University of Florida, Florida State University and University of West Florida were the top performers, with UWF and FSU tied.

“Performance-Based Funding challenges our institutions to continuously improve outcomes, close achievement gaps, and strengthen Florida’s workforce. Thanks to Governor Ron DeSantis and the Florida Legislature, Performance-Based Funding continues to receive strong support and will remain a driving force behind the State University System of Florida’s commitment to improving outcomes for students,” said Chancellor Rodrigues. “With continued collaboration and accountability, our universities will reach even greater milestones in the years ahead.”

“Florida’s Performance-Based Funding model continues to deliver real results—not just for our universities, but for our students, faculty, staff, and the state’s economy,” said Brian Lamb, Chair of the Florida Board of Governors. “Thanks to investments from Governor DeSantis and the Florida Legislature, our universities are empowered to drive student success, support high-performing faculty and staff, and produce the talent that fuels Florida’s economic growth. This commitment and the System’s new strategic plan, SUS 30, will ensure we remain a national leader in higher education and workforce development.”
