Corporate Secretary

The Corporate Secretary for the Board of Governors is a senior staff member with wide-ranging responsibilities and serves as the focal point for communication with the Board and senior management. The Corporate Secretary provides counsel to the Chancellor and Chair, as well as members of the Board, especially on governance issues.

Duties may also include serving as the executive to assist Board members by providing information on the practices of other governing boards, and helping tailor governance principles and practices to fit the Board’s needs and expectations.

Responsibilities vary from understanding the Board’s operation and business thoroughly to having a basic knowledge of state and education laws.

The Corporate Secretary compiles and edits the official meeting minutes, maintains the Board records and helps to ensure compliance with regulations and rules.
