State University System of Florida Recognizes National Transfer Student Week

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. This week is National Transfer Student Week, and the State University System of Florida (SUS) proudly recognizes the more than 55,000 transfer students within our SUS institutions. Through the 2+2 Targeted Pathway program, students can earn their associate degree at a state college and have guaranteed admission to a partner university to complete a four-year degree.

“In partnership with the Florida College System, the State University System of Florida is dedicated to upholding our commitment of excellence to all 2+2 transfer students,” said SUS Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs Emily Sikes. “By establishing 2+2 Targeted Pathway programs at our institutions, our System is setting a high standard of excellence for transfer student success.”

In Florida, public universities are required to participate in the 2+2 Targeted Pathway, which engages agreements with Florida Colleges to provide Florida College students with guaranteed admission to a state university. Across all 12 SUS institutions, there are nearly 40 partnership pathway agreements with Florida Colleges.

The 2+2 Targeted Pathway is making a meaningful impact across the SUS:

  • 40% or more 2+2 transfer students graduate in two years from FSU, USF, FIU, and FAMU.
  • 70% or more 2+2 transfer students graduate in three years from FSU, FIU, USF, and FAU.
  • SUS transfer student programs offer services and resources such as advisors on college partner campuses, connections to peers and faculty in their chosen major, support from peers and transfer coaches, and promotion of timely completion for both associate and bachelor’s degrees.
