DEFINITION:                                                                     
   The number of English as a Second Language (ESOL) courses taken              
   by the FTIC student in high school, based on the high school                 
   transcript information, and used as English units required for               
   admissions.

CODING INSTRUCTIONS:                                                            
   For all First-Time-in-College (FTIC) students who are admitted               
   and graduate after January 1998, the number of ESOL courses taken            
   in high school, and used to meet English requirements for                    
   admission, should be reported.  The units reported will be 1.0               
   for a full year of ESOL credit or 0.5 for a single semester.
