CoWork Jax, a shared downtown office space for young Jacksonville entrepreneurs, will hold its September FastPitch session at the University of North Florida, with an all-student lineup pitching business ideas.
This special edition of FastPitch will give UNF’s entrepreneurial students a chance to showcase their ideas and learn what it takes to advance them, said Stephanie Royal, marketing director for the university’s Small Business Development Center.
Cowork has been running FastPitch for more than a year. Presenters get five minutes to identify a business problem, state existing alternatives, offer a better solution and say what they have done so far and what they’d like to do going forward. An audience of peers and potential investors, partners and mentors then respond during a Q&A session.
Royal said that process fits with SBDC’s mission of helping businesses grow and succeed.
“CoWork already has a model that supports entrepreneurs,” Royal said. “This event will help people here to learn what they have learned. It’s something we can utilize with students here at UNF.”
At the event, SBDC will offer free business consulting to anyone participating, Royal said.
