The chairman of the Board of Governors said today he will recommend that the university system's chief academic officer serve as interim chancellor while the board searches for a replacement for Frank Brogan. Brogan, now chancellor of the Florida university system, is leaving Sept. 30 to take a similar position in Pennsylvania.
Chairman Dean Colson said in a statement that he would recommend that Jan Ignash be appointed interim chancellor when the board meets next week.
He also said he would appoint a chancellor search committee after next Thursday's meeting.
That committee's first task would be to "provide recommendations for the search process, including a timeline" and then report back at the board's November meeting.
