University of Central Florida’s College of Medicine is teaming up with Valencia College to offer a new combined 2+2 biomedical sciences bachelor’s degree program.
All four years of courses will be offered at the UCF-Valencia campus in Kissimmee, but the first two years of the program will be taught by Valencia faculty while the next two years will be taught by faculty from the UCF College of Medicine’s Burnett School of Biomedical Sciences.
It’s the first time biomedical sciences will be taught at a UCF regional campus and will help expand the college’s training into Osceola County.
“We are delighted to begin this collaboration with Valencia,” said Dr. Richard Peppler, associate dean for faculty and academic affairs and interim director of the Burnett School. “This program expands our educational training into one of Central Florida’s fastest-growing and most diverse communities.”
Graduates of the program will be qualified to enter the research and development field or continue to graduate and professional programs in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and veterinary, Peppler said in a prepared statement.
