Trustees at Florida A&M don’t believe the university’s annual accountability report accurately reflects what FAMU is doing on behalf of its students.
Board members unanimously approved the annual report this morning during a conference call, pending minor adjustments, in advance of next week’s Board of Governors meeting in Gainesville. Every institution in the State University System is required to submit an annual accountability report to BOG, along with an annual work plan.
FAMU is working to improve its 39 percent six-year graduation rate.
Trustee Marjorie Turnbull voiced frustration that the tables required by BOG do not allow FAMU to differentiate between traditional students and “profile admits,” the students who FAMU accepts despite lower test scores and grade point averages.
“The format is inadequate for pointing out our unique student population. No other university in this state is serving this population,” Turnbull said.
