MEDIA ADVISORY: Three items to watch for the upcoming Board of Governors' meeting
The Board will decide on a path forward for the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering and consider proposals from UCF and USF to expand their campuses downtown.
February 19
FIU Student Housing: Previously deferred, Florida International University is seeking approval for a student housing project on the institution’s Biscayne Bay campus. FIU will present a revised proposal and answer questions raised by the Board.
Budget Updates: The Board will consider including in its 2015-2016 legislative budget request proposed dollars for a UCF campus in downtown Orlando, the USF Morsani College of Medicine in downtown Tampa, and renovations to UF’s historic Norman Hall.
FAMU-FSU College of Engineering: The Board will hear a presentation on the results of a study on the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering and consider a proposal to maintain the Joint College and implement significant administrative and organizational changes. The Legislature and Governor directed $500,000 in 2014 for the Board to secure an independent consultant to analyze the pros and cons of maintaining the Joint College versus developing differentiated engineering programs.
