Statement from the State University System Regarding Student Financial Aid and FSU's Preparations for the Upcoming Board of Governors Workshop
(Comment requested following FSU's press conference this morning)
We appreciate the hard work and preparation that all 11 state universities have under way regarding the full picture of student financial aid at Florida's public universities. This information will be particularly useful as we prepare for a workshop dedicated to these matters one that the State University System's Board of Governors, at its June 2010 meeting, committed to hold this fall (November 2010 meeting).
The November workshop also will be perfect timing so that the Board of Governors has the best and most complete information as we head into the 2011 Session of the Legislature, and thus partner with legislative leaders on whatever needs are identified that need to be addressed.
Each one of State University System of Florida's 11 public universities has a different and unique student population profile. Therefore, it is also important to keep in mind that tuition and fees are one component of a student's complete financial needs picture that also would include housing, books and supplies, transportation, food and other components.
