The Family Resource Center, a part of FGCU's College of Education, earns accreditation
Florida Gulf Coast University's College of Education said its Family Resource Center is one of the first early childhood programs to earn accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children, the nation's leading organization of early childhood professionals.
"The College of Education's mission is to provide diverse environments of excellence that support dynamic learning experiences. As part of our College, the Family Resource Center reaches out to our youngest learners," said Dean Marcia Greene.
To earn accreditation in the new system, the Family Resource Center completed an extensive process, measuring the program against 10 new standards, which require a new level of quality, accountability, and service for parents and children
enrolled in child care programs. The Family Resource Center first achieved accreditation in 1999.
The center enrolls 55 children of FGCU faculty, students and the community.
