Gary S. Tyson
Dr. Gary S. Tyson, Tyson holds the Harris Professorship in the Computer Science Department at Florida State University and serves as the chair of the Advisory Council of Faculty Senates of Florida. He received a PhD degree from the University of California at Davis, and MS and BS degrees from California State University in Sacramento. Professor Tyson joined FSU after serving on the faculty of University of California at Riverside (1995-1997) and the University of Michigan (1997-2003). His research is in computer architecture, mobile applications and genomics. He is the director of the FSU Mobile Systems Lab focusing on the use of mobile technology in medicine, sports and the arts. He was the founding director of the FSU Center for Genomics and Personalized Medicine, seeking to advance genomic research in medicine and ecology. He is also interested in how technology is changing higher education and society.
