The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009
On February 17, 2009, President Obama signed the federal “Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009” into law. The Act contains $789 billion in new federal spending or tax cuts with up to $100 billion potentially going to public education programs. Important to Florida is the $2.700 billion specifically designated to stabilize K-20 education funding. Of this amount the 2009 legislature appropriated $161,274,570 for the State University System.

This Web site is designed to provide information about the education-related portion of the Act and the Board of Governors’ efforts to secure funding through it. This site will continue to be updated as information becomes available.
Quarterly reporting on the expenditure of ARRA funds begin in October 2009.
