Nicole Washington, Associate Director, Governmental Relations
Nicole Washington serves as the Associate Director for Governmental Affairs, working in the Tallahassee office as a primary point of contact for all State University System inquiries. In this capacity, she provides enhanced connectivity among Board staff, university staff, legislative staff, and other educational, governmental, and community stakeholders to develop sound policy that will guide the System.
Prior to joining the Board, Ms. Washington served as a higher education analyst and Interim Budget Chief in the Governor’s Office of Policy and Budget. In that capacity, she was deeply involved with the many budgetary and policy issues and opportunities facing education, particularly in the universities and student financial aid. Prior to that she served in various roles in the education sector including teaching, working with a national education policy think tank, and providing financial research for a Governor-commissioned education reform taskforce in Connecticut.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from Princeton University, and a master’s degree in Comparative and International Education from Teachers College, Columbia University.
