Amy Beaven, STEM and Health Initiatives Director
Amy Beaven supports the Board of Governors in maximizing and fully leveraging its investments in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Education and health programs within the State University System. She works closely with the Special Advisor for STEM and Health Initiatives in the development of a strategic plan for advancing the quality and coordination of health and STEM programs across the state. Her work includes consulting with member institutions regarding related program development, enrollment projections, accrediting issues, communications initiatives, and system-wide and institutional goals that help ensure a positive return–on–investment for the State of Florida.
Prior to joining the Board in 2014, Ms. Beaven was previously employed with the University of Texas Health Science Center's Institute for Health Policy as a Policy Research Associate. In that role, she contributed to the strategic planning and outreach of Research into Action, a knowledge translation initiative to connect university research with community programs and policy efforts.
Ms. Beaven earned a master's in Public Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University and a bachelor's degree in Agricultural Biotechnology from the University of Kentucky.
