Students interested in attending a State University System (SUS) institution will need to apply directly to each state university to which they desire admission. General admission standards for the SUS are established by the Board of Governors, although individual universities may establish higher standards than those delineated by the Board.
Admission to Florida's state universities is competitive. Acceptance to a specific undergraduate degree program is determined by enrollment limitations and the qualifications of the applicant pool based on demand for the program. Therefore, it is recommended that prospective students apply to more than one university and complete a rigorous academic curriculum in high school in an effort to increase their chances for acceptance to the university of choice. Students should work with high school guidance counselors and university admissions staff in order to find the best "fit" for educational and personal success.
