John D. Rood, of Jacksonville, has been chairman of the Vestcor Companies since 2007
and was previously chairman from 1983 to 2004. Rood was an Ambassador of the United
States to the Bahamas from 2004 to 2007. Previously, he served as the vice chair,
chairman and commissioner of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission from 1999 to
2004. Rood has also served as the commissioner of the Marine Fisheries Commission. He
received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Montana.
